Our Story
Why did you start your business?
Back in 1987 I was working for a gas station filling customer’s cars with gasoline and diesel fuel, I was inspired by cars and my love for cars and car business was born. I worked my way to becoming a mechanic by 1989 while attending school, my very first car was an Audi 5000 CS, which I had purchased at an Auction (Police Auction). My experience working on this vehicle was the very first love of working on cars; I not only fixed it, but; loved working on them as late as 11pm at nights after school. In 1991 I purchased a gas station in Lake George NY, where I stayed for 2 years while running this business. In 1994 I leased another gas station in Long Island NY, (Port Washington, NY). I worked with my two brothers to offer customers Gasoline, repair services, and grocery. I learned while working hands on experience. In 1996 I got married, and moved to Springfield VA, and became a sales person for a local Toyota dealership and stayed there until 1998. This was the time when I realized that I need to open my own small car dealership, so I did. The dealership was located in Stafford County VA; I was the owner with my two brothers until 2003. Things started to turn in different direction in 2004, I was in a partnership from 2004 to 2006 with two other partners running the business and eventually it did not work out and I left the business. I once again joined the same Toyota dealership back in Springfield as their used car manager and stayed there until August of 2008 until the recession came and hit me, I was laid off. Out of work and that is when I decided to get back in the car business for myself. This is the time when Joseph Auto Sales was born, in March 20, 2008 we officially opened doors to customers, the dealership is named after my 2 year old son (Joseph), and all I am trying to do is get passed this recession and offer quality vehicles to my customers.
What makes you different than other similar businesses in your community?
The experience is the big difference, although attitude makes the biggest difference. We offer vehicles at much lower price and higher quality than our competition, my overhead is very low and therefore I can pass the savings to my customers. The same vehicle that I can purchase had an Auction for let's say $10,000.00 would be offered for sale at franchised dealers for at least $14,950.00 to make up the difference for the Overhead cost. I don't have the Overhead cost as many other dealers do, and we buy the vehicles from the same auction, so the numbers favor my customers.
What do you like most about your community?
I have lived in Stafford County since 2004 and operated a business here since 1998. I really love Stafford County, the folks are friendly, you can solve any issue with zoning easily and they promote this county for Business. Currently there is no Business License Tax. The auto auction is only 1 mile from my dealership and that helps keep cost of transportation down. I highly recommend Stafford County for both living and doing business in. I have 3 kids in Stafford County Public Schools and they are doing great. I am proud of this community. I hope to make a difference with my input and business in this County.
